I’m back!
Phew, so it’s been a while since I’ve posted on my blog, how have you been? Summer is winding down now, which is nice, as I do enjoy a bit of fall. I’m not a huge fan of the decent into cold, however I love putting on a sweater, the twinge of coolness in the air…aah, and the changing of the leaves! THAT’s the best part of fall. Especially around Thanksgiving, the leaves are just specatcular.
Okay, so tonight I’m watching reruns of Sex and the City, which is one of my favorite shows, and I find I’m enjoying it more now that I’ve actually been to New York City. I only spent three days there, and only saw the cheesy touristy stuff, but I feel like I should know the place. And now watching the show, it’s even cooler! Because I now have a vague idea of where these things are. Tres cool indeed.

Vacations rule!
So I just got back from vacation, and boy am I NOT happy to be back at work. The old cliche of “I need a vacation to recover from my vacation” is so true. It took me a day to remember what it is I do here, then another day to figure out what I was doing before I left, and then another half day to plan out what I was going to do…and this was even WITH leaving myself notes and lists n’ thangs before leaving. Sheesh.
The vacay was definitely needed though, and was really good. I went to NYC and Connecticut to visit friends. We traipsed around NYC, seeing all the touristy things, then we went to Foxwoods Casino to watch the boys play some Hold’Em Poker, went on a steam train ride that crashed into a garbage truck (more on that later) and ate some really good pizza from Captain’s Pizza in Shelton, CT. A good time was definitely had by all.
The steam train ride was interesting. It was supposed to be a leisurely ride through the Connecticut country side, with a steam boat ride up & down the Connecticut River in between. But on the way back, while we were “steaming” along at about 7 miles an hour, some jackass in a garbage truck didn’t want to wait for us to go through an intersection, so he tried to beat us through it…and lost. We pegged him on the back hindquarters, and over the truck flipped! Thankfully the steam train can’t actually go that fast, and it was only a garbage truck we hit, not a fuel truck or anything, so everything turned out okay in the end. Everyone was shaken up, but not hurt. The truck driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital, and charges were pending, last I heard. We also made the 11:00 news too, which was strange. There were three different news crews there filming and interviewing people. The tourists they talked to were such drama queens though, talking about how their lives “were in danger the entire time”. What a load of crap! The people they spoke to weren’t even at the front of the train like me & my friends were! Come on, it was a little disconcerting, but not THAT disconcerting. Not to downplay it of course, because we did flip over the garbage truck, but come on. Let’s not make a mountain out of a mole hill here people. Sheesh.
Okay, time for me to get back to work now.
