The Good Weather Made Me Do It
Today we were up to 23 degrees Celsius…above zero! And the sun was shining, and there was a nice breeze and everything. So after work I just had to get off my duff and go out for a run. Which I did! It was only the second run of the season for me, but I managed to do the 5k loop in High Park in only 3 sets of 3 & 1s, which I thought was pretty good (that’s 3 minutes running, 1 minute walking.) The first time I did it in 4 sets, so that’s good.
The first time I went out I ran the loop clock-wise, and was surprised at all the funny looks I was getting from the runners going counter-clockwise. It took me almost a week to figure out why they might have been doing that: typically when you run on the road, good practice says you go against the flow of traffic so that the drivers of the cars see you. Going counter-clockwise in the Park means going against the flow of traffic driving thru. Now I get it.
So today I decided to go counter-clockwise, to “fit in” with the rest of the runners in the Park. Now would you know it, but today everyone was running clock-wise! I mean, come on, how is that possible that today they decided to go the other way? Come on. I thought it was funny.
The main reason why I’ve decided that all future runs on that loop will be clock-wise is that if I go counter, I hit the hill at the end of my run, which is not good. CallĀ me lazy, but I’d rather go downhill at the beginning of my run instead.
