Steaminess in the City

Whoa, I just got back from running some errands this morning, and while the temperature isn’t that high outside (something like only 24C), the humidity is insane! It’s quite sticky outside, and will only get worse today as some thunderstorms roll through the area. Although I could have already told you about the thunderstorms as I woke up with a bit of a headache this morning. The Weather Witch is in full effect right now. Right now I’m trying some hydration methods to see if that helps, as the acetominaphen I took earlier this morning hasn’t done much. I’ll also brew up an espresso around lunch time as well, to see if that helps.

Ah, what a weekend! I’ve done pretty much nothing all weekend, which is just fine by me. After all the driving around to and from Waterloo for my new job, it was nice to just stay local and not do much of anything. Relaxed Friday night by knitting and watching the Olympics. Saturday I ran another couple of errands, got the car washed and just relaxed. Dazed And Confused was on tv last night, and even though I have the DVD, I watched it anyways. Such a good movie, and it makes me laugh every time I see it. Today I ran another few errands, and am planning on doing a bit of cooking for dinners this week.

That is one thing that this new job is doing for me: forcing me to plan out my meals and do cooking on the weekend. Sure, I could always just grab something on the way back into town, but that would blow my budget! So I’m trying to plan out meals and then make up things on the weekend that will let me just re-heat or do a quick zap in the microwave when I get home. This week’s menu includes Pasta e Fagioli (a great Italian soup recipe that’s hearty & tasty), as well as some good old-fashioned Bolognese sauce. I haven’t made that in a while, so it’ll be nice to make. I haven’t made Pasta e Fagioli before, but I know it’s a simple recipe, so I’m not worried.

Speaking of the new job, just a quick note to say that it’s going well. I survived the first week, and think I’ll enjoy it alot. Stay tuned for periodic updates on that as I get more familiar with the work and release schedule. ;-)

I’m quite excited to have purchased a little webcam yesterday as well. My friend Carmina, who lives in Houston, has been bugging me to talk over Skype for the last while, and I realized that my laptop doesn’t have a microphone built-in. So I had to buy one. I found that the little webcam/microphone combo was about the same price as a good headset/microphone, so I went for that instead. The cool thing about that is that I can video call on Skype now with Carmina, which will be nice. It’s always nice to see people as well, especially if you’re not paying anything for the call! Just ping me if you want to add me to your Skype list, and then we can start talking for free as well. Hmm, I think I might just have to start bugging my relatives in Italy to get that set up, that way we can do free calls online and actually see each other as well, which would be very cool!

Okay, time to get cooking!
