The Police still rock

Yes they do! I just got back from their first sold out concert in Toronto in over 25 years, and wow, was it ever good! I was quite impressed at how well the boys played, and even got along. I sang and danced for the whole show, which was quite long for a show these days, coming in at one hour and 45 minutes. Note bad at all. They played all the usual suspects, except for Synchronicity (Edit: silly me, they DID play Synchronicity II, however I was just too excited I didn’t even remember they did. :-) My bad.) , and even tossed in a few oldies as well. I was pleased to hear them open the show with Message in a Bottle, as that’s my favourite Police song.

We were sitting behind the stage, which was actually pretty good. We were pretty close to the boys, had great views of Sting’s butt, and laughed our heads off as Stewart tossed broken drum sticks at us. Plus we were right up against the wall of some of the private boxes, so we got to stand and dance for the whole show without worrying about bothering anyone behind us.

There were quite a few parents there with their teenagers, which was quite amusing to see. The crowd seemed to be fairly young though, like in the mid to late 20’s, surprisingly. I didn’t seem to notice as many old fogies like I have at other shows. In fact, I think I noticed more older people at Sting’s solo shows than I did tonight at the Police show.

No worries though, as the show was rockin’, and me & the girls danced and sang the night away.

If you have a chance to go see them, I highly recommend it!!

DM was Great

The Depeche Mode concert last night was great! The boys sure do know how to give a good show, and they sounded fabulous. Dave was strutting his stuff like he used to do back in the day, and Martin was showing off his guitar skills all night. The best part was when they played their old tunes, and Dave had the crowd dancing, singing and clapping to a frenzy. All in all a fun show. If you ever have the chance to go to a DM concert, GO!

Got the DM tix

Got my Depeche Mode tickets in the mail yesterday, which is very cool. I’m quite excited to go see them, as their new album is reminiscent of their old stuff. Last time I saw them was great fun. It turned into a big sing-a-long with Dave Gahan leading the way. I don’t anticipate it being quite the sing-a-long this time, as their new album is quite dark & depressing, but it should still be pretty good.

Shut out

Boy, there sure are tons of INXS fans here in Toronto! I got completely shut out for tickets on Saturday, and they even added a second show. I guess that’s what happens when an arena band plays at a small theatre. I see from their tour dates that INXS is playing mostly smaller theatres, which I find a bit strange. Given that this is their first tour in almost 10 years, I can understand the reticence of not wanting to play in arenas, but as their new lead singer is from Toronto, I would’ve thought this was the one city where they could’ve played an arena with no problemo. Perhaps they’ll come back on another leg of the tour. At least I managed to get Depeche Mode tickets! Woo hoo.
